| 18 April 2008 Diablo 666 were lying in 20th position after their 1st qualifying times from yesterday and were hoping for a dry track to be able to climb up the grid. First out in this round of qualifying sessions was James Hutchins but as the track was still very wet and many teams were going out on intermediate tyres, James sat in the garage waiting for the track to dry. Five minutes before the end of the _ session the top guys were beginning to put in some respectable times and James ventured out for a couple of exploratory laps but did not improve on his time of yesterday. Next up was Alex Cudlin who immediately was faster than he had been yesterday and at the end of the session knocked almost two seconds off his previous best, finishing with a best of 1:43:5. He would have gone even faster, if when on a really hot lap being faster in his first two split times he ran out of fuel, obviously aborting the lap. Michael Wenand was last to go and was immediately on the pace and once again dramatically improving upon his Thursday time recording a personal best of a 1:41.547 second lap, also a second faster than he had been the day before. He was also just ahead of the No.3 Yamaha of Phase 1 Endurance?s Damion Cudlin, Alex?s elder brother. After this qualifying session Diablo 666 would be starting the race, to begin at 3pm local time on Saturday, from 21st on the grid. |
