| 17 April 2008 After the disappointments and highs and lows of the 2007 season, the Team are here to prove that they are still very much a force to be reckoned with in the WEC top ten teams. After the recent very successful test here at Le Mans, expectations within the Team are for a definite top ten finish. Diablo 666 will be racing their 2007 spec bikes in this years Championship. Much modified since last year with kit gearboxes now installed replacing the troublesome units which cost the Team so many World Championship points last season. This year the rider line up is to be James Hutchins, Alex Cudlin and Gary Mason. However, Gary is on duty this weekend riding in the R1 Cup at Thruxton’s BSB meeting, so for this weekend his place is being taken by Belgian rider Michael Wenand, who has previously ridden for sister team, Bolliger Kawasaki and has also done the TT as well. Judging from his early pace this was a very shrewd move by Team principle, Miles Hutchins, Michael being the fastest of the three Diablo 666 riders early on. So fat the weather has been fine and dry, if not very cold. It will be interesting to see what the unsettled local weather has in store for the riders this weekend. First free practice saw the Team in 12th position, 2nd free practice 15th position. Excellent or what? After the first round of qualifying on Thursday afternoon, Diablo 666 Kawasaki were lying in 20th position. Later this evening there would be two 45 minute night practice sessions, in which all riders must take part. Sister team Bolliger Kawasaki are currently lying in 8th position, their new 2008 looking truly awesome. More news direct from the cicuit as it happens. |
