Diablo 666 HM Racing's Piers Hutchins produced some more great rides in the Triumph Triple Challenge at Brands Hatch with qualifying position of 6th on the Indy Circuit. The meeting was going to be a bizarre arrangement where the Triumphs were racing on the Indy Circuit on the Friday and then with only a practice on Saturday on the GP Circuit - and then a race on the GP Circuit on the Sunday. Not great for set up as there was only a 20 minute practice on the GP Circuit before this race the following day - and a lot of hanging around.
Piers qualified a strong 6th on the Indy Circuit but unfortunately the gremlins struck again, and Piers had to pull in on the warm up lap of the Indy Circuit race with the heat exchanger giving up the ghost and exuding oil everywhere. This meant no race times and therefore a start position back in 14th for the GP Circuit... not what was planned!
On Sunday the second race on the GP Circuit was going to be hard work - but Piers knew from his practice laps that he was going to be a lot faster than his grid position but with only 10 laps Piers didn't have a lot of time to get through the field, before the front runners disappeared and out
of reach.
But fight he did and he ended up a very creditable 7th in the group that ran from 4th to 9th - and was still catching the next rider hand-over-fist as he finally ran out of laps!
If you like Triumphs and want to "Back Britain" then this series is a real must to watch - come and see us at the circuits around the UK or watch us on TV when the races are televised alongside the other BSB races. If you come to the BSB rounds look for the big blue tents where all the T3R race teams are housed and come and say hello. Tony Scott the organiser of the Triple Triple Challenge series and his team have down a really brilliant job to bring you this competitive series - so come and be impressed!
And if you want to know more about these really fabulous Triumph 675s then call Robert Rosner on 0208 657 0121 or visit their website www.carlrosner.co.uk.
Try one - they are really gutsy road bikes with a unique combination of a slim profile, three cylinders, great bhp and and torque that gives them such user friendly riding experience - and I can guarantee you'll really want to also "Buy British" again!!
